Design is a primary part of the services we provide.  It is probably the most important factor of a project for insuring your over all satisfaction.  Good design requires time and experience and Forest Millwork prides itself in  the experience of our design team.  We are committed to giving our customers cabinetry tailored to their personal tastes and practical requirements, while making sure the fabrication and installation are just as expertly done.

The cost of that design time must be included in the project price somewhere.  Nationally, design costs average 6% of a kitchen project.  Therefore, in order to be fair FMI has adopted the following:

Free Estimate for Cabinetry Projects

After an initial meeting to discuss design ideas and needs, we will produce floor plans, elevations and a detailed estimate, then review these at a second meeting, at no charge.  These drawings are the property of Forest Millwork Inc.

The drawings will be released to the customer upon either of the following:

1. Payment of a $500 retainer fee.  If the customer purchases cabinetry from Forest Millwork, the fee is credited to the purchase price.  Otherwise, it is considered a non-refundable design fee.
2. A deposit of 1/3 of the estimated price of the project is received.

Further Design Refinements

Usually there are design changes after a customer has reviewed the initial drawings.  After a payment of either of the above options, we will:

1. Visit the jobsite and verify field dimensions
2. Coordinate all appliance specifications. (The customer must provide all appliance specifications before the cabinets can be ordered)
3. Revise the drawings and pricing as needed.
4. Present a firm price proposal for the project.
